Update on the Steam
I finally bottled the Steam Beer tonight. Yield was 44 12oz bottles plus 1 20 oz bottle that’s already in the cellar. If I like the Steam Ale I may cellar another 6.
I tasted it. It’s definitely beer. I wasn’t really high on it, but this is my first try at tasting the flat beer before bottling, so I don’t have much to compare it to. After a few weeks of bottle conditioning it will be very different.
To celebrate finally bottling the Steam Beer I pulled one of the Belgian Tripels out of the cellar. It tastes lovely. Very full and sweet (for a beer) and a light hop finish. Still a few of those left, so we’ll see how it ages. It’s not a very hoppy recipe, so I don’t know how it’ll do after months. It’s 5 months old now, and I’ll try it again in a couple of months.
Tentative date for August brew night is the 27th. I’ll let you know how that works out–should know for sure in a week or so, and the Steam Beer will be ready to drink by then.
